Alfred Chang of Dahlonega Healing Herds Sanctuary has died. A heartfelt tribute from Dahlonega Healing Herds Sanctuary was written after his death. The Dahlonega Healing Herds Sanctuary (DHHS) is mourning the death of a beloved friend, advocate, and board member—Alfred Chang. With heavy hearts, the sanctuary shared news of his passing, remembering him not only for his professional contributions but for the kindness, compassion, and unwavering support he brought to their mission. In a touching Facebook tribute, DHHS wrote:
“Our hearts are devastated and broken this morning. This outstanding human being donated his services and time to make DHHS a 501c3 nonprofit and was on our board of directors. This amazing soul has helped us save 18 neglected and abused donkeys and has supported us every step of the way. Alfred Chang, we will always be holding space in our hearts for you. Your memory, kindness, and generosity will never be forgotten here at Dahlonega Healing Herds Sanctuary. Fly high, my friend.”
Alfred Chang played an integral role in the growth and success of Dahlonega Healing Herds Sanctuary. Using his professional expertise, he generously donated his time and services to help the organization achieve 501(c)(3) nonprofit status—a major milestone that has enabled the sanctuary to grow its reach and secure vital resources for the animals in its care. But Alfred’s contributions extended far beyond paperwork and legal status. He was a hands-on supporter who believed deeply in the mission of DHHS: to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome neglected and abused donkeys. His compassion and involvement helped save the lives of 18 donkeys, each now safe and healing because of his commitment.
A Legacy Rooted in Love and Service
DHHS, located in the peaceful hills of North Georgia, was founded by Jim and Aimee Guidetti in 2021. What started as a modest effort to provide safe refuge for donkeys has grown into a beacon of hope for animals in need. Spanning 10 acres, the sanctuary provides food, shelter, medical care, and emotional healing for donkeys who have often endured years of neglect or abuse. Alfred Chang was more than a board member—he was a vital part of the sanctuary family. His belief in the work being done at DHHS inspired others to get involved, whether through volunteering, donating, or spreading awareness. His generosity, compassion, and belief in doing good left a lasting imprint on every donkey saved and every person touched by the sanctuary’s mission.
In the wake of Alfred’s passing, DHHS is inviting supporters to continue his legacy by contributing to the sanctuary’s mission. Whether through donations, volunteering, or simply sharing the story of Alfred’s impact, every gesture helps keep his spirit alive.
